Ceroc Dance South Africa

Ceroc began in the 1940's when American GI's introduced jive to the local scene in France. The French and Spaniards added their Latin moves and named it 'Ce Roc' meaning 'The Dance'. In later years the Brits branded it and combined their Ballroom and the Aussies their Dirty Dancing Moves.

Finally its reached South Africa and the Afrikaners are already incorporating it into their Sokkie! What a story of dance! You can be part of it.

Complete beginners welcome.

Singles, couples, wedding couples and students welcome. It's simple to learn but looks impressive. Just come to any of our venues, pay at the door and become part of CEROC, 'The Dance!'

A Little More Than Your Average Dance!

Ceroc is the name of the Hottest New Dance style in South Africa!  Following in the footsteps of their Dance Colleagues abroad, Helen Els has set a new pace to the social dance scene in Pretoria and Jo’burg with the introduction of Ceroc Dance.

Ceroc is a socially, energizing, night out for singles and couples across Gauteng.

No Partner Needed and it’s a great way to keep fit!

‘I began Ceroc classes with a friend who convinced me to go 14 years ago, in Auckland New Zealand.  I became addicted at the first class.

I loved the momentum of the class, the music and the extraordinary array of exciting dance moves the instructors would present each week.  It was energizing - mentally and physically. The instructors would demonstrate from the front.  Tying themselves into knots with the music, then we would ambitiously follow suit.  I began to step out of my comfort zone – but I was laughing all the way.   The dancers would rotate down partners every minute or so, which dissipated any fear of embarrassment and was a really nice way of getting to know other dancers without having to actually engage in long conversations.

By the end of 45 mins, I had learnt a fantastic dance routine, I had laughed more than I can remember and had made about 30 new friends.  The class continued for another 1 and a half with people just dancing to all their favorite songs.  It was a night that changed my life.’

Helen moved to South Africa to marry her Boer, Andries.  Unable to leave her dance addiction behind, Ceroc was officially opened and trademarked in Pretoria 2005.

During the next 5 years the Afrikaners taught Helen how to Sokkie introducing Ceroc to a  South African flavor - combining Sokkie into ‘The Dance.’

We have taken Ceroc into schools and teach Grade 7 pupils how to Ceroc every year.  It gives the boys so much confidence learning how to lead.

Ceroc works with wedding couples, so that they can bring something special and enchanting onto the dance floor.

Monthly Candle lit Makiti Dans’sare held at Brooklyn, Centurion and Silverlakes Venues for anyone and everyone who just wants to bring their pizza, wine and dance shoes and dance.  Annual Themed Balls and Ceroc Competitions are also on the part of the fun.

‘I believe everyone has the ability to Dance.  But what we want to find, is their ability to Enjoy Dancing!! Ceroc has filled the gap between no dance and ballroom.

I have seen Dance change so many people’s lives,  it  is such a blessing to be involved.  There is something indescribable about it.

A student wrote in recently and said, “There are some short cuts to Happiness and Dancing is one of them!”

Classes a run across Brooklyn, Silver Lakes, Centurion, Montana, Pta West, Harties and Sandton, Jo' Burg.

What a story of dance!  The floor is waiting for you....
